Procrastination vs Pomodoro

Every person has different routine Life and he or she has to face a lot of distractions during his tasks. Thus, he or she has to face procrastination. These distractions must be identified and eliminated. In order to eliminate the delay during work, we should move in an effective way. Otherwise, a person cannot be able to do his tasks effectively and efficiently in a productive way in given period of time.

So I am the person who is facing a lot of distractions during my tasks and thus become victim of procrastination. So a friend asked me to adopt the following technique and this technique helped me to identify and sort out all my distractions effectively and postponement of job decreased to a much lower level.

Pomodoro is a technique in which you have to follow some following steps

· Decide the task to be done.

· Set alarm to 25 minutes.

· Work on until the timer rings. If a distraction pops into your head, write it down, but immediately get back on the task.

· After the timer tings, put a tick on a paper.

· Take a short 5 minute break

· Repeat steps above.

· After you have 3–4 ticks on your paper, you can take a longer break (15–20 minutes), and continue your remaining working till its completion

Every person who starts a new habit that is not in his or her daily routine , he or she has to face problem. In the same way, I felt some uneasiness while applying this technique. This is just because I have to come out of my comfort zone and have to apply something new. I was difficult (but not that much) for me to concentrate at a single task. But ended up awesomely.

After applying this technique for 2hrs of work, I completed my task in the patches of time with no such difficulty as I felt earlier. I saw my distractions written on the paper and I tried to sort out those accordingly. As, for face-book update, I managed a time table when I have to visit it. Moreover distraction by my brother was solved out by asking him that I was working in the other room and asked him be quiet till my job got completion.

I am really impressed by this technique and I hope it’s going to work for me forever. I am really motivated to continue this technique. To use it regularly I will practice it daily until it becomes my habit to do things like that. Moreover, It really benefited me out and I got the things done in much better way and it increased my productivity.

To improve my above technique used, i will try my best as I can switch off my mobile so that I may not be disturbed by mobile pop ups.

For the noise problem from my younger brother as a distraction, I can ask him not to make noise while using the PUBG game. Keep you mic off. Moreover, I can find a quiet place during my tasks.

I can also manage a reward for me, something like candy or chocolate, after completing my 25 minutes. In this way I can get some energy to do next task.

Further more, we can use different apps related to it like FOCUS KEEPER, TOMATO TIMER and FOCUS TO DO etc.
